Jan smeets trouwde met amelberga van den ackere, dochter van wouter en mabelie van de velde. Op 13/9/1359 stond hij borg voor gillis van den ackere bij diens pacht van het hannemansgoed. Hij word nog vermeld in 1370. In 1375 was hij in het bezit van een laatschap van 10 bunders en hij overleed vermoedelijck voor 12/10/1396 (AOKW 68,p89 SP I ch SP I da SP I 462 p39).
