‘Ome’ Piet heeft in Delft duidelijk goed geboerd. Vroeger, in de jaren vijftig, kwam hij regelmatig op bezoek bij mijn opa Kees, zijn broer. Dan gingen ze samen naar het voetballen kijken bij FIOS in Achthuizen. Piet roerde zich altijd behoorlijk langs het lijntje – hij was, hoewel hij zelf waarschijnlijk nooit tegen een balletje heeft getrapt, een echte kenner van het spelletje - , mijn opa was veel rustiger. ‘Ome’ Piet – hij was eigenlijk een oom van mijn vader - sprak altijd vol trots over zijn voetballende zoons bij BEC in Delft, over Zeger die keeper was, over Rinus, maar vooral over Aad die heel goed moet zijn geweest.
