Wie de ouders zijn van Christiaan Krop (ca. 1746-ca. 1810) is de vraag. Zeker is dat hij komt uit Salz Uffelen (Bad Salzuffel) in het graafschap Lippe. Er is een akte van 11 juli 1765, waarin kleermaker Jan Hendrik Regel uit Amsterdam van ene Maria Crudops uit Salz Uffelen, weduwe van Christiaan Crop, tegoed vordert. Blijkbaar waren er economische banden van de familie Krop en Amsterdam.
De kinderen waren in 1758 al wees te Amsterdam, dus deze Maria Crudop is niet hun moeder. Mogelijk was deze Christiaan Crop wel hun vader - gezien de vernoemingen zou dat niet gek zijn.
