Schepen 1629/31 en buurmeester 1629/34 van Strijen. Laagheemraad 1625...36, waarsman van het Oudeland van Strijen en van Oud-Bonaventura. Genoemd als doopgetuige te Poortugaal in 1602. Volgens de verponding van 1626 was Andries met zijn kinderen gegoed voor 36.000 pond of gulden. Volgens de verponding van 1636 was hij met een gegoedhied van 40.000 pond de rijkste inwoner van Strijen. In 1639 wordt zijn bezit op 19.000 pond geschat, kennelijk na uitbetaling van het moederlijk erfdeel aan zijn kinderen. De naam Verweel (Verwael, van der Wael) is ontleend aan het water de Weel in Strijen.
