Notes about Oduin I de WALCOURT

Oduin van Walcourt (ca. 980 - ca. 1030), heer van Walcourt, zoon van Werri I van Walcourt.

Hij voltooide de kerk die door zijn vader was begonnen en die op 1 juni1026 in Walcourt was ingewijd door Reginard, bisschop van Luik. Het eerste schriftelijke document uit Walcourt dateert van 1 juni 1026, waarin heer Oduin en zijn vrouw genereuze schenkingen deden aan het heiligdom, waarvan de bouw net was voltooid. In 1020 stichtte Oduin, heer van Walcourt, een kapittel voor acht kanunniken en een proost, die inspraak hadden in de Staten van de provincie.

Hij trouwde met Eremburge, geboren rond 985, met wie hij een zoon kreeg: Folcuin van Walcourt.
