Gedurende de crisisjaren 3 jaar als kind in Lembach, Frankrijk gewoond. Haar vader was daar schoenmaker voor arbeiders die aan de Maginot linie werkten. Deze baan gekregen via zijn franse zwager Lauerbach die getrouwd met een zuster van haar moeder. Na WOII kleuterleidster en later hoofd van een kleuterschool(Uffelte)
