He studied in Amsterdam, England and Germany to learn the Tobacco Trade before joining his fathers Tobacco Trading company "Brusse & Gransberg". The formation of the trading company "Brusse & Gransberg" as a continuation of the "Van Valkenburg & Brusse" company happend on 01-Jan-1881 in Amsterdam. Willem Brusse became CEO of the "Brusse & Gransberg" Tobacco Trading company and under his direction this company became one of the largest Tobacco companies of the Netherlands.
Willem Brusse became very rich and he and his family lived in a palatial home at "Museumplein 13" in Amsterdam.
