Notes about Wilhelm Johann Carl (Wilhelm) Randel

Whilhelm Johann Carl Randel, son of Major Johann Carl von Randel (illegitimate son-later by Royal Danish decent declared- legitimate, see marriage record), was a Custom administrator (Zoll verwalter) for the Danish Government. As a young man he was stationed in Burg on the isle of Fehmarn from 1833 till 1841. Here he met the widow Anna Henriette Amalie Mackeprang (born Mau). They had their first child one month before their marriage in 1837. In 1841 the family was moved from Burg to Pahlen (or Pahlhude) where they lived from 1841 till 1856. Whilhelm Randel and his family were moved again from Pahlen to Brunsbuttel, where he became "Zoll verwalter" in the new ZollHaus.
Schleswig-Holstein and the island of Fehrman were part of Denmark till 1867, when Prussia concurred these parts and made them part of Pruissa (later Germany).
Wilhelm Johann Carl Randel appears in the Danish 1840 census, age 32, married, as a Custom clerk (Zoll assistent) stationed in Burg Stadt, Burg auf Fehmarn. He and his family were living at Breite Strasse, haus #43.
He is also listed on the Danish 1845 census living in Pahlen, Hertzogtum Schleswig, in the Haupt Strasse #36, as "zoll Controlleur" age 36, married to Amalie Mau.
He also is listed on the Danish 1860 census, age 52, married, Custom Administrator/Manager (Zoll Verwalter) stationed at Brunsbuttel, Kirchspiel. Living at Zollhaus #63.
After the second Prussia-Denmark war in 1868 (Prussia won this war) Wilhelm Randel and his wife moved to Itzehoe.
In 1886 Wilhelm and his wife move to Kiel, to live with Anna's daughter Caroline Mackeprang. They all live in a small apartment. Caroline died 25 Dec 1888 and Wilhelm Randel died in Kiel 23 Feb 1889.
His wife Anna Henriette Mau moved (1890) to Hamburg to live with her daughter Olga Jarke (born Randel). Anna died 12 Sep 1898 in Hamburg.
