gedoopt 31 oktober 1717 te IJhorst/de Wijk als zoon van Albert Gerrits (gedoopt 19 febr. 1690 te Goor)en Marrichjen Jans (gedoopt 1 juli 1688 te de Wijk), welk ouderpaar 28 oktober 1713 in IJhorst/de Wijk in ondertrouw gaan om in Vollenhove te trouwen; hij als j.m van Goor (vandaar de latere familienaam) en zij als j.d. uit de Wijk; Gerrit is begraven te Hoogeveen 17 december 1776; hij wordt vermeld in de haardstedenregisters van het Zuidwoldiger Rot in 1755 (nr 72) en 1764 (nr 81) en betaalt de normale bijddrage; hij wordt in 1774 in het Hollandsche Rot (nr 209) vermeld, heeft dan een tapperij en betaalt de hoogste bijdrage; hij wordt genoemd in een momberprotocol van 23 febr. 1743 als schuldig zijnde aan Coert Jans Koster de aankooppenningen van een praam; hij zal dus schipper geweest zijn, voordat hij aan de wal als kroegbaas ging; hij wordt vele malen als medemomber of getuige bij een tweede huwelijk vermeld;
