Over de familie Yserman

Alle in Nederland levende Sideriussen stammen, in mannelijke of vrouwelijke lijn, af van ds Arnoldus Mathiae Siderius (1595-1642), predikant te Finkum en Stiens ten noorden van Leeuwarden. Hij stamde uit een Leeuwarder familie van ijzerhandelaren, waarvan de stamvader omstreeks 1535 vanuit Remagen in Duitsland naar Leeuwarden kwam.

De familie noemde zich aanvankelijk Iserman, maar de dominee gebruikte zijn kennis van de klassieke talen enmaakte er Siderius van. Een zoon van Arnoldus, Sicke, werd schoenmaker in Franeker en zijn nageslacht verbreidde zich via Harlingen over Friesland (vrouwelijke lijn) en naar Amsterdam en omgeving (mannelijke lijn); dit is de Harlinger tak. Tette een dochter van ds Arnoldus trouwde met een boer uit de Zuidhoek onder Vrouwenparochie, vlakbij Stiens. Van de kinderen uit dit huwelijk namen enkelen ook de naam Siderius aan en van hen stamt een uitgebreide boerenfamilie Siderius af (Bildtse tak). De huidige leden van deze tak hebben allemaal als stamvader een achterkleinzoon van Tette namelijk DirkEverts, geb.1695, boer te Vrouwenparochie en St. Annaparochie Meynte Mathijs (de halfbroer van ds Arnoldus) die zich aanvankelijk Iserman noemde, was tenslotte de stamvader van de Leeuwarder tak.

Het huis in Leeuwarden waar o.a. Meynte woonde, bestaat nog. Het is Voorstreek nr 9 en in de noordelijke zijmuur zit een grote gevelsteen met daarop een man in harnas met als onderschrift . "De Yserman".
