Engbert word in een proces verbaal d.d. 24-01-1764 genoemd als neef van Cornelis Rouhof. Cornelis is de zoon van een zus van Berent Vosmer.
Engbert dreef een Herberg waar het soms nogal ruig aan toeging. Deze Herberg stond op de plek bekend als De Kraecke. Hier stond ooit de 1e school van Deurningen. In de Franse tijd word de Kraeke , Le Auberge Le Kraack genoemd.
