Het gezin Braam komt in 1888 op boerderij Kamps bij Balloo te wonen. Zoon Lambertus huwt Grietje Berkepies en tijdens hun bewoning van Kamps worden in 1934 enige opgravingen verricht op het erf door professor E.A. van Giffen. Er zijn echter geen sporen gevonden van een bouwwerk wat in relatie met een abdij uit 1259 kan worden gebracht. In 1960 verkoopt mevrouw H.J. von Baumhauer Oldenhuis Gratama (kleindochter van Mr. L. Oldenhuis Gratama) de boerderij en erf (Kamps 1) aan de gebroeders H. en W. Braam, de zonen van Lambertus Braam. Zij hebben nog jaren samen op de boerderij gewoond.
