    Kaandorp is gelegen tussen Heiloo en Limmen in. Het ligt nabij de buurtchap Bollendorp, net onder Heiloo. De buurtschap was ooit een echt zelfstandige plaats. Maar een grote kern is nooit geweest. In 19e eeuw was er van de oorspronkelijke kern nog maar een deel over. Toch is de plaats altijd blijven bestaan.

    Kaandorp kwam in 1640 voor als Caendorp. Voor de oorsprong van de naam wordt vaak gedacht dat de kaan of kane boot betekend. In het geval deze buurtschap zou dan om een terp of heuveltje die vorm zou hebben van een boot. Tegenwoordig is dit in iedergeval niet meteen zichbaar.

    In de plaats ligt er tegenwoordig een bungalowpark, Het Caendorp geheten, de naam is dus afgeleid van de oude benaming voor de plaats.
