Femmetje Dijkhuizen, zijn moeder, was als dienstmeisje werkzaam in een gegoede familie.Aalbert, zijn vader, maakte een voor die tijd bijzondere carriere en kon zelfs geruime tijd onbezoldigd leven. Bron: Frans Bosch die opmerkt dat dit nu een grappige annekdote in de familie is, maar dat het vroeger erg gevoelig lag.Ik heb een kopie van een brief van de burgerlijke stand van De Bilt aan de burgerlijke stand van Nijkerk, waarin dit staat. Op 1 juni 1897 door de ouders in De Bilt erkend als zoon. De brieven van wettiging waren van 28-08-1897. Er werd een aantekening gemaakt op de geboorteakte van Dirk. Ook van die akte heb ik een kopie, met dank aan Nies Schagen uit Delft.

Dirk is assistent der Posterijen Hij woont in Sloten en is weduwnaar van Lamberdina Postma. Zijn vader is nu rijksveldwachter en woont met zijn moeder in Sloten. Berendina. Zij is zonder beroep en woont net als haar ouders in Sloten. Haar vader is brievenbesteller. Op 26 september was de afkondiging zonder stuiting.

Getuigen: Gerhard van der Wal, 38 en kleermaker. Gerrit Bosch,27, wonende te Utrecht en broer van de bruidegom. Hij is lapmaker (?) Zal wel kleermaker zijn. Iedereen tekent de akte.
