Notes about Christiaan Cornelis "Kik" Smis

Familieverhalen willen dat Christiaan Cornelis Smis (1915-1984) tijdens de oorlog geïnterneerd is geweest in het beruchte Strafkamp Amersfoort. Hij was daar terecht gekomen omdat hij de Arbeitseinsatz ontdoken had. Er is zelfs een getuige Petrus Andreas Tjerks (geb 5 okt 1922) die Chris daar heeft meegemaakt. Ik heb een interview met Piet Tjerks opgenomen, waarin hij dat nog eens bevestigt (zie daar). Wel vertelt hij over de arrestatie een heel ander verhaal dan mijn moeder ons destijds vertelde.
Ik heb naar Kamp Amersfoort geschreven voor meer informatie, maar tot mijn verbazing weet men daar helemaal niets van Christiaan Cornelis Smis (geboren in 1915) af.

Geachte heer Smis,
Uw aanvraag m.b.t. het verblijf van uw vader in kamp Amersfoort, is naar mij doorgestuurd ter beantwoording. Het ging hierbij om Christiaan Cornelis Smis, geboren te Amsterdam op 03-01-1915.
Uit de door u verstrekte gegevens, afkomstig van het Stadsarchief Amsterdam, zou uw vader op 28-10-1942 naar ik vermoed voor de Arbeitseinsatz naar Duitsland hebben gemoeten. Volgens de gegevens in uw aanvraag heeft hij hieraan geen gevolg gegeven.
Onderzoek bij ons in de database heeft helaas niets opgeleverd. Wellicht, indien u dit al niet gedaan heeft, kunt u uw vraag nog eens stellen bij het Nederlandse Rode Kruis of het NIOD. Mochten er daar gegevens bewaard zijn gebleven over het verblijf van uw vader in kamp Amersfoort, dan hopen wij dat u deze gegevens t.z.t. met ons wilt delen.
