He was preceded in death by his father and mother, John and Wilma DeVries; brother, Rog DeVries; and brother-in-law, Randy Van Leeuwen. He is survived by his wife, Janice DeVries; his children, Karen and Troy Koetje, Brenda and Jon Heun, Brian and Amy DeVries; seven grandchildren with two on the way; his brothers and sister, Elayne and Dwight Penning, Wayne and Maryann DeVries, Calvin and Mary DeVries; his mother and father-in-law, Gerrit and Eleanor Van Leeuwen; his in-laws, Gary and Sharon Van Leeuwen, Terri Van Leeuwen, Ken Van Leeuwen, Mary and Don Postma. Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the Messiah Christian Reformed Church, with Rev. Terry Genzink officiating. Interment Grandville Cemetery. Friends may meet with the family at the VanderLaan Funeral Home on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 1 to 3 and 6 to 9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Unity Christian High School Building Fund or the Disabled American Veterans.
