Mrs. J. B. Walhof of Edgerton, Minn., passed away Sunday at the home of her step-son, Peter Walhof. Mrs. Walhof was 85 years of age at the time of her death. Funeral services were held here Wednesday at the Second Christian Reformed Church with the Rev. L. Ypma officiating. Interment was made in the local cemetery. Mrs. Walhof is survived by her two step-sons, Peter Walhof of Edgerton and Charles Walhof of Rock Valley.
Maike Porma, was born March 3, 1845 in Niehove, gem. Oldehove, Groningen, NL. Her first marriage in the Netherlands was to Klaas Otten, age 59, and Maike was 37. They married August 9, 1882 in Amersfoort, Utrecht, NL. Klaas had been married before. Klaas died October 4, 1888 in Amersfoort, Utrecht, NL.
She may have come over with her siblings, she had a brother and a sister who came to Sioux County. Maike was married on April 9, 1894 to J. B. Walhof in Sioux Center, Iowa.
Mrs. Walhof was born and married in the Netherlands. After coming to America with her husband she lived in Sioux Center until after his death. Mr. Walhof was school janitor for many years.
