Rock Valley - Frances Ver Burg, 89, Rock Valley, died Friday, June 3, at Valley Manor in Rock Valley.
Services were Tuesday, June 7, at the First Reformed Church in Rock Valley, with the Rev. Mike Van Hammersveld officiating. Burial was at Valley View Cemetery in Rock Valley, under the direction of Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley.
Frances Ver Burg, daughter of Frank & Alice (Van Whye) Wynia, was born May 2, 1916, in Lester. At the age of 2, following her father's death, she moved with her family to Rock Valley, where she attended school. She married John P. Ver Burg on Dec. 9, 1939, in Jackson, MN. They farmed near Rock Valley until 1944, then near Alvord until retiring to Rock Valley in 1975. Mr. Ver Burg died March 5, 1980. She was a member of First Reformed Church in Rock Valley, where she was active in Ladies Aid. She enjoyed reading, playing cards and especially spending time with her family.
Survivors include a son, Kenneth and Karen Ver Burg of Bellingham, WA; two daughters, Eleanor and Paul Ohling of Rock Rapids, and Donna & Gene Cargin of Worthington, MN; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Larson of Madison, SD.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John P. Ver Burg; and an infant grandson.
She is married to John P Verburg.
They got married on December 9, 1939 at Jackson, Jackson County, Minnesota (USA), she was 23 years old.
