Op 30 juni 1783 sloot hij het verdrag ,,Erneuer ter Erbverein" met de Walramse linie. Op 18 januari 1795 moest hij vluchten voor de Franse troepen die de Republiek bezetten. Hij begaf zich toen naar Engeland en woonde na 1801 te Dietz.
