Sir James Stewart of Lorn was the son of Sir John Stewart, Lord of Lorn and Isabel de Ergadia.
He married Lady Joan Beaufort, daughter of Sir John de Beaufort, 1st Earl of Somerset and Lady Margaret de Holand, before 21 September 1439, with Papal dispensation for both consanguinity and affinity.
He died circa 1448.
Sir James Stewart of Lorn also went by the nick-name of 'the Black Knight of Lorn'.
