Hij werd in 332 als gijzelaar aan Constantijn de Grote uitgeleverd. Er werd een contract met vader Ariaric opgemaakt. De Visigoten werden weer foedus d.w.z. verplichte steun aan Constantijn als die daar om vroeg, maar ook betaling voor bescherming van de grenzen door de Goten. Aoric was een soort waarborg voor deze afspraak.
