Egidius Boel werd in Temse geboren op 24 juni 1735 als zoon van Abraham Boel en Elisabeth Smet. Die trouwden omstreeks augustus 1734. Het was het derde huwelijk van Abraham Boel, die eerder gehuwd was met Maria de Meester in 1721, met Petronella Boeykens in 1725, en hij trouwde nog eens na het overlijden van Elisabeth Smet (de Smet) in Temse op 20 september 1761, in 1762 met Amelberga van der Doodt (gegevens uit Gezinsreconstructies Temse). Abraham Boel overleed op 6 januari 1772 in Temse. Uit alle huwelijken werden kinderen geboren (in totaal tenminste 14 kinderen). Bij de doop van Egidius Boel in 1735 waren als getuigen aanwezig Joannes Baptiste Coene ipv Petrus Smet en Anna Peeters.
