Johanna is nooit getrouwd met geweest met Joh. M. Coenen. Wel werd bij Koninklijk Besluit op 24-9-1921 haar naam veranderd in Coenen Sasbach. Dit is op te maken uit een notitie op haar gezinskaart die in het Stadsarchief van Amsterdam, in de kolom 'Aanmerkingen' staat aangetekend.
Opvallend is dat op deze kaart als extra notitie staat: "Verzoeken geen inlichtingen te verstrekken omtrent de naamsverandering, 27-5-1924." Dit is dus na haar overlijden op de kaart gezet.
Bij het overlijden van Johanna Sasbach in 1923 noemen de kinderen in de familieadvertentie haar de weduwe van Joh. M. Coenen.

Haar kinderen werden allemaal op 6-6-1906 van geslachtsnaam veranderd en heten zij allemaal en hun nazaten Coenen ipv Sasbach, de naam waarmee zij ter wereld kwamen. Ook dit is een bijschrijving op tenminste twee huwelijksaktes, die van zoon J.W.M. Coenen en C.J. Coenen. Beide zonen trouwden in 1889.
