Manuel Bloemendaal werd op 8 oktober 1876 geboren te 's-Heerenberg als zoon van Salomon Bloemendaal en Judig Goldstein. In het bevolkingsregister van de gemeente Bergh komt hij ook voor als Marius.

Hij trouwde met Rosine Nathan, geboren op 26 juni 1870 in Gemünden (Gmünden) in Duitsland. Zij kregen ten minste één zoon, Walter, die op 17 oktober 1904 werd geboren in Viersen (D). In het begin van de oorlog woonde het gezin op het adres Hamstraat 20a in Roermond.

Manuel en zijn vrouw zijn op 14 mei 1943 omgekomen in het vernietigingskamp Sobibor in Polen, 66 en 72 jaar oud. Op dezelfde dag stierven in Sobibor zijn broer David met echtgenote.

Hun zoon Walter was kort daarvoor, op 31 maart, omgekomen op een onbekende plaats in Midden-Europa. Hij bereikte de leeftijd van 39 jaar. Zijn overlijden is in Roermond ingeschreven op 30 december 1949. Dit gebeurde krachtens een wet uit juni 1949 betreffende het opmaken van overlijdensakten van vermisten. Als bewijs van het overlijden gold een officiële mededeling van de Commissie tot het doen van aangifte van overlijden van vermisten gedateerd 29 september 1949.

De namen van Manuel en zijn gezin staan vermeld in het Digitaal Monument van de Joodse Gemeenschap, in het Slachtofferregister van de Oorlogsgravenstichting en Yad Vashem's Central Database of Shoah Victims' Names. Hun namen staan ook op het Joods Monument in Roermond, dat op 1 mei 2007 werd onthuld.
