Hij spreekt recht, geeft Karel advies en zorgt ervoor dat Karel soldaten krijgt als hij op oorlogspad gaat. Om er zeker van te zijn dat die Leenmannen hun werk goed doen, want je weet maar nooit, laat Karel ze controleren door rondreizende ambtenaren. Zij houden Karel op de hoogte van misstanden en opstanden. En ze spreken recht op het moment dat iemand zich oneerlijk behandeld voelt door een leenman. Weet de ambtenaar de oplossing niet, dan zorgt Karel daar zelf voor.
