    Bijzonderheden: Joh. Rozendaal was een zoon uit een gezin van 13 kinderen in Berkel en Rodenrijs, Zuid-Holland. Zijn broer Koenraad was ook verzetsman. Deze werd op 16 juli 1944 na verraad opgepakt en gefusilleerd. Johannes trouwde met J. Hoogenboom en ging in Muiden wonen. Hij werkte bij de N.V. Nederlandsche Springstoffenfabriek en had daardoor oa eenvergunning om zich ’s nachts op straat te mogen bevinden.

    Rondom hem ontstond in de loop van 1942 een zogenaamde knokploeg. Ledendaarvan waren verder: Wout Oudshoorn, Arie Oudshoorn, Dirk Streefkerk,Rinus van Rijsbergen, Jan van Etten, Gijs Rechtuyt en Cor Swankhuizen.Dit was de harde kern van het verzet in Muiden, die oa de Amerikaanse piloot Claude Murray (alias Jan Smit) hielp onderduiken, een aanslag pleegde op de spoorbrug bij Weesp, bandenbommen plaatste op de Oude Papenlaan, in de Noordpolder gedropte wapens in veiligheid bracht en bij de bevrijding de orde moest handhaven tot de Canadezen gearriveerd waren.

    Joh. Rozendaal is in 1953 onderscheiden met het Kruis van Verdienste uit handen van Prins Bernhard.

    Zijn vrouw en hij ontvingen later nog eerbewijzen van generaal Dwight D. Eisenhower, voormalige geallieerd opperbevelhebber en in 1985 van Ronald Reagan, president van de V.S. ivm hun lidmaatschap van de “Air force escape and evasion society.”
