Notes about Pieter Bertou

Pieter is tesamen met zijn ouders op 10.03.1908 vertrokken naar N.Amerika en is verhuisd naar Newark en woonde op het laatst in Port Gibson 4595 route 31 in de Verenigde staten. Hij was altijd een hardwerkende boer, totdat hij hartklachten kreeg. Hij deed wat de dokter hem adviseerde en verkocht de boerderij en verhuisde naar Port Gibson, New York. Hij kocht daar een leuk geel huisje aan een boten kanaal. Hij was concierge tot aan zijn pensioen. Hij vond het heerlijk om in het kanaal te vissen en als hij vis gevangen had die niet eetbaar was dan werd die verwerkt tot compost en profiterde de hele buurt ervan. Hij was een vrolijke opgewekte man ook in mindere tijden. Hij hield van sport en kaarten. Hij stierf aan een hartaanval toen hij de post naar de buren bracht.
