Godart van Kessel genaamd Roffaert, bouwheer van het huis Roffaert. Hij droeg in 1622 zijn 1/16 deel van het Gelderse leengoed genaamd de hof In gen Scheydel (hoeve de Schei) onder Beesel-Reuver over aan Matthijs Alberts. Tr. 1614 met Maria Spee, dr. van Elbert Spee en Johanna van Haeren; weduwe van Arnold van Bocholtz.

In 1663-1664 werd te Kessel een proces gevoerd inzake patronaatsrecht. Gerardus Cox beweert dat hij het patronaatsrecht heeft op het beneficie van St.-Anthonius in de patronaatskerk van Kessel en heeft daartoe iemand voorgedragen. Hij beweert dat dit recht bij het huis Oijen behoort en vroeger afkomstig is geweest van 'den Tempel' in Kessel. Godefridus Roffart, gehuwd met Maria van Spee, is in oppositie gekomen en heeft dit recht voor zich opgeeist. Bij vonnis van 10-11-1646 voor de officiaal Moeitz gewezen, is Cox in het gelijk gesteld. Dit vonnis is in hoger beroep te Mechelen vernietigd en dit vonnis van Mechelen is nadien te Roermond nog eens bevestigd.
