    Volgens het adresboek Maastricht woonde Twan in 1921 op de Wijkerveldweg NÀ3.
    Hij was toen leerling electricien. Later was hij als electricien werkzaam op de Staatsmijn Hendrik te Brunssum,welicht mede door toedoen van zijn broer Eugene. Hij was"bij ons in de kost" en had zijn eigen kamer in de Rumpenerstraat 140. Oom Twan was een leuke sportive oom. Hij was in het bezit van een , in die tijd nog iets bijzonders. Helaas werd deze moter hem noodlottig. Ergens begin de jaren dertig kwam hij in Heerlen tussen twee, zich kruisende trams terecht. Hij werd zwaargewond overgebracht naar het ziekenhuis te Heerlen.
    Toen hij ongeveer een jaar naar huis kon, had hij een blijvend letsel aan een been, waardoor hij van toen af gebrekkig, en met behulp van een stok
    door het leven moest. De eerste tijd werd hij verpleegd door de in de wijk Rumpen werkzame wijkverpleegster, zuster Martha. Zo langzamerhand viel het moeder op dat de verpleging steeds langer ging duren. De aap kwam uit de mouw de zuster was verliefd geworden ophaarbeminnelijke patient.
    Oom Twan verliet ons huis en ging in het gezellenhuis wonen, dichter bij de zuster
    waarmee hij trouwde in 1934. Als invalide kwam hij terecht bij de " Werkplaats voor Invalide Mijnwerkers " vallend onder het fonds voor Sociale instellingen. Als electricien, Instrumentenmaker. Na zijn herstel kocht hij een leuke kleine auto, een viekant geel kistje !
    In de jaren dertig nog heel apart. Als hij met het "gele kistje" bij ons op bezoekwas, trok het altijd heel veel belangstelling van de voorbijgangers. Later reed Twan steeds met een Daf.
