Notes about Jan Hendrik De Meulder

Gerard Brusselarrs, die al heel zijn leven tegenover de smederij woont, heeft altijd goede contacten met de familie De Meulder onderhouden. Dat begon al toen hij als kind regelmatig de smederij in- en uitliep en dan aan de blaasbalg mocht trekken. Het gezin De Meulder bestond volgens hem uit acht kinderen. In 1930 stonden de kinderen er plotseling alleen voor toen vader en moeder korte tijd na elkaar overleden. Drie kinderen zijn later getrouwd. De laatste drie bewoners van het huis, dat aan de smederij grensde, waren Cor, Jan en Piet. Jan was de laatste smid. Tot 2008 is de smederij in gebruik geweest.
