    De familie Korst is een landbouwersfamilie in westelijk Noord-Brabant, met name voorkomend onder Steenbergen, Halsteren,Nieuw-Vossemeer, alsook te Fijnaart en Willemstad. De oudst bekende
    stamvader stamt uit het Oudland onder Steenbergen, een polder die in het begin van de zeventiende eeuw te Steenbergen door meerdere landbouwers werd bebouwd en vanwaar nog hedentendage families voortkomen, zoals De Wit, Slokkers, Lodiers, De Jong en Scheurbiers. De familie Korst is een katholieke familie. Een aantal van haar
    nakomelingen maakte in de negentiende eeuw deel uit van kerkbesturen te Halsteren, Nieuw-Vossemeer, Steenbergen, De Heen en Dinteloord.
    In die uiterste westhoek van Noord-Brabant beoefenden nakomelingen Korst gedurende vele generaties het landbouwersbedrijf, dat hen een zekere welvaart verschafte. De achternaam Korst is een patroniem, want de naam is afgeleid van de voornaam Corstiaen-Christianus-Kerstiaen. Waar de oudst bekende Corstiaen vandaan komt, is niet bekend. Ook zijn werkelijke achternaam is vooralsnog in de sluier van het verleden verhuld gebleven.
