    Theobald van Arles (ca. 850 - 895) was een zoon van graaf Hugbert.

    Theobald was graaf van Arles en grootgrondbezitter in de Provence. Theobald raakte in 880 ernstig gewond in de oorlog tegen Bosso van Provence maar herstelde. In 883, toen er een grote behoefte was aan soldaten en ridders, maakte hij gebruik van een pardonregeling voor roofridders.

    Theobald was getrouwd met Bertha van Lotharingen (863 - 8 maart 925), buitenechtelijke dochter van Lotharius II bij Waldrada. Bertha is beschreven als mooi, levenslustig, moedig en ambitieus – en de drijvende kracht achter de politiek van haar echtgenoten
