    Berthold III (IV) van Andechs (- 14 december 1188) was een zoon van Berthold II van Andechs en van Sophia van Istrië. Hij volgde zijn broer Poppo op als graaf van Andechs. Tijdens zijn regeerperiode breidde hij zijn grondgebied en zijn invloed uit. Berthold was een trouw aanhanger van de Hohenstaufen en begeleidde Frederik Barbarossa op diverse krijgstochten. Wanneer in 1157 de lijn Wolfratshausen in Dießen uitsterft, wordt Berthold erfgenaam. Na een opvolgingsstrijd erft hij in 1158 ook Neuburg en Schärding bij het uitsterven van de graven van Formbach. Van zijn broer Otto, de bisschop van Brixen, krijgt hij de grafelijke rechten in het Norital en het Pustertal en controleert hij de Brennerpas. In de jaren 1170 sticht hij in het Inntal nabij Ambras, de latere stad Innsbruck. Berthold verkrijgt ook de voogdij over Brixen en Neustift. In 1173 krijgt hij van Frederik Barbarossa Istrië-Krain als rijksleen. Wanneer in 1180 Beieren verheven wordt tot hertogdom, krijgt ook Bertholds zoon de titel van hertog van Meranië.
