    Roeland I van Vermandois, bijg. de Dappere, (1085 - 14 oktober 1152) was een zoon van Hugo I van Vermandois en Adelheid van Vermandois. In 1117 wordt hij graaf van Vermandois in opvolging van zijn moeder. Roeland steunt de Franse koningen Lodewijk VI en Lodewijk VII in hun strijd tegen opstandige baronnen. Bij de belegering van het kasteel van Livry in 1129, verliest hij een oog. Wegens zijn toewijding aan de kroon, biedt koning Lodewijk VII hem de hand van zijn schoonzuster Petronella van Aquitanië (1125-1153) aan, een dochter van Willem X van Aquitanië. Hiervoor moet hij wel zijn eerste echtgenote Eleonora van Blois, een dochter van Stefanus II van Blois, verstoten, die zich op haar beurt gaat beklagen bij haar broer Theobald, zodat deze zich tegen Lodewijk VII keert. Ten slotte annuleert paus Innocentius II het huwelijk. Tijdens de afwezigheid van Lodewijk VII van Frankrijk, die op Tweede Kruistocht is, wordt hij samen met abt Suger, regent van Frankrijk. Na de terugkeer van Lodewijk VII, scheidt hij van Petronella van Aquitanië en hertrouwt hij met Laurette (1120-1175), dochter van Diederik van de Elzas.
