    Banu Gómez, Beni Gómez o Vanigómez (hijos de Gómez) fue un linaje medieval originario de Mijancas en Álava. El patrimonio principal de este linaje era San Román de Entrepeñas, el condado de Saldaña y Santa María (Carrión), donde se asentaron en tiempos de Diego Muñoz, primer conde de Saldaña. Este linaje se emparentó con significativos miembros de otras poderosas casas condales y reales castellanas, leonesas e incluso gallegas.1

    La primera mención de los Banu Gómez data del año 932. Ibn Hayyan nos da la noticia de cómo los condes Banu Gómez y Ansúrez se rebelan contra Ramiro II en apoyo de su hermano Alfonso
