    Piet was een op en top tuinder. Hij was onberispelijk en rechtschapen. Hij werkte zo lang het dag was. Voor zijn gezin was hij voor alles een voorbeeld (bidprentje). Piet overleed te Waarland op 18 februari 1948, tijdig voorzien van de Heilige Sacramenten.
    Bregtje was een zorgzame en liefdevolle moeder die in eenvoud en groot geloof, met woord en daad de haren voorging... Zij werd oud. De ongemakken van de oude dag bleven haar niet bespaard, daarom was de dood voor haar geen moeilijke overgang naar een ander en beter leven (bidprentje). Zij overleed op 18 maart 1963 in Huize St. Nicolaas te Lutjebroek en werd begraven 21 maart, de dag nadat zij 86 zou worden, op het katholieke kerkhof te Waarland.
