    kaasmaker van de kaasfabriek "De goede verwachting", te Catrijp, gem. Schoorl. Naast het woongedeelte in de boerderij was de kaasfabriek. De boeren kwamen met paard en wagen de melk brengen. In 1916 verhuisde de fam. Kuijs naar Waarland. Wederom in 'n kaasfabriek genaamd: "Op hoop van zegen". De hoop was er wel, maar de zegen bleef achterwege. Slechte tijd voor de boeren, verkochten hun vee, zo kwam er tekort melk voor de kaasmakerij, veeboeren werden lanbouwers. Wub ging verhuizen en werd melkboer.
    Later kwam er toch weer een opleving bij de boeren en Wub Kuijs nam voor de 3e keer 't besluit om te gaan kazen. Daarna kocht hij het pand Kersktraat 7, hij opende een zuivelwinkel, en ging ook weer melkventen.
    Later nam zoon Piet de melkzaak over, daarna door Wilbert Pietzn.

    Willem Zut, Gerrit Wester en Cees Trompetter hadden in 1905 het initiatief genomen tot
    oprichting van kaasfabriek De Hoop op Zegen. Deze kwam in de boerderij op de hoek nu
    Kerkstraat-Veluweweg. Enkele jaren later kwam er een schuur bij, dit is nu het huis van de
    familie Smit. De eerste jaren werd er voldoende kaas gemaakt, eerst door Janes Sneekes en
    daarna door Wulbert Kuijs. In 1918 werd de productie gestopt en de inventaris verkocht.
