Hendik Baggen was de derde zoon uit het landbouwersgezin Baggen-Proosten uit Geleen-Lutterade. Zijn oudere broers Jan Lambert en Jan Godfried bleven als landbouwers op hun land in Lutterade. Als derde rad aan de wagen was er kennelijk niet meer genoeg uitdaging voor Hendrik. Daarom verkoos hij het verder op te zoeken en trouwde in 1792 met landbouwersdochter Maria Elisabeth Suijlen. Met haar en zijn latere vrouw Petronella Schrijen zette hj het landbouwbedrijf van zijn schoonvader Leonardus Suijlen voort. In hoeverre hij een deel van zijn erfenis uit Lutterade kon bijdragen is niet bekend.
Toen de eerste vrouw van Hendrik Baggen , Maria.Elisabeth.Suylen overleed op 15 october 1818 hadden zij hun woning naast Jan Cleven. Jan Cleven was de grootvader van Maria Helena Cleven de latere echtgenote van Michiel Joseph Baggen, een kleinzoon van Hendrik. Michiel Joseph was in Amstenrade geboren als zoon van Jan Michiel Baggen en Anna Mennens.
In 1829 woonde hij te Doenrade huisnummer 186 voorheen 199.
Op 24 februari 1836 werd zijn Memorie van successie opgemaakt , en zijn testament werd opgemaakt door Notaris Lemmens te Lutterade op 18 juni 1835.
Hendrik is gestorven 24 augustus 1835 in Doenrade.1. De eerste zoon, Jan Godfried woonde in Doenrade was landbouwer en volgde als oudste zoon zijn vader op. Zijn nakomenlingen zijn uit Doenrade vertrokken, voornamelijk naar Duitsland in de regio Aken, en daarna naar Brussel . Het huidige Nederlands Limbrurg behoorde in de periode 1830-1839 tot België. In die periode vertrokken vele Ned. limburgers naar België. omdat zij zich niet thuis voelden onder het Nederlands regime. Het is nog niet onderzocht of deze tak nog nakomelingen heeft. 2. De tweede zoon , Jan Michiel (1809-1872), was de stichter van de familietak Baggen- Mennens in Amstenrade. Een van zijn zonen ,Michiel Joseph keerde weer terug naar Doenrade, het geboortedorp van zijn grootvader Henricus ( Hendrik 1769-1835 ). Michiel Joseph trouwde mer Maria Helena Cleven, dochter van wethouder en grondbezitter Antoon Florentijn Cleven.
