    Dankbare mijmering op het prentje: Op de lentedag 21 maart 1897 werd hij geboren als boerenzoon. Op zijn veerstigste trouwde hij met moeder en begon een nieuw boerenbedrijf. Het werd een tijd van hard werken samen, voor het gezin, dat in de loop der jaren ontstond. Al zat het niet altijd even mee, klagen deed hij nooit. Hij had alles over voor zijn gezin en stond voor iedereen klaar. Ondanks al het harde werken nam hij ook tijd om te genieten van het leven. Hij had graag mensen om zich heen. Toen Jos het werk overnam kon hij het wat rustiger aan gaan doen, maar hij bleef met hart en ziel over het bedrijf waken. Samen met moeder heeft hij nog vele rustige jaren op de boerderij doorgebracht, trouw bezocht door kinderen en kleinkinderen, waar hij erg van genoot. Langzaammaan begon ook aan hem de ouderdom te knagen en door zijn doofheid verloor hij het contact met zijn omgeving. Moeder de kinderenen Jeanne (Buckens) probeerden zo goed mogelijk voor vader te zorgen. Uiteindelijk brak toch het moeilijke moment aan om te verhuizen naar het verpleegtehuis. Dat deed hem en ons veel verdriet, maar hij schikte zichin zijn lot en nam het leven zoals het op hem afkwam. In oktober 1993 kwam hij naar het verpleegtehuis in Oudenbosch, wat dichter bij ons. Gezien zijn hoge leeftijd (96j) zagen wij allen dat het kaarsje langzaamop brandde. De momenten van contact deden ons goed. Wij danken de doktoren en het verplegend personeel in Charitas, afd Cyclaam en het Oostkwartier, afd. Papaver. Nu hij dan zijn welverdiende rust rust heeft gekregen, blijft de herinnering aan hem bij ons. Verdrietig maar met een dankbaar gevoel voor alles wat hij voor ons heeft gedaan en heeft betekend, zeggen wij in zijn woorden: Vader, het beste! We hielden van je.
