Reden kan zijn dat Oosterboer wel onder de Gereformeerde kerk van Meppel viel maar niet onder het burgerlijk gezag. Nu is Oosterboer deel van Meppel.

Derk ten Hoonte sterft op 11 Feb 1819, en het kerk register heeft geen registratie dat de kerklokken hebben geluid, derhalve moet hij arm gestorven zijn. Zijn dood is opgemerkt door zijn buren, Marten Hendrik Oud, 48 jaar, schipper en Lambert van Dijk, 51jaar, wever, die aangaven dat Derk ten Hoonte, kleermaker uit huis nr 434, wijk 6 in Meppel, stierf in de nacht op 1:00 uur. Marten en Lambert woonden in de huizen nr 436 en 438.
