Notes about Wim Rooding

Wim Rooding woont en werkt in ‘t Betuwse Huissen. Naast beeldend kunstenaar werkt hij als creatief therapeut. Van jongsaf aan voelt hij zich betrokken en verbonden met de natuur, de cultuur en het landschap van het rivierengebied. Deze thema´s zijn een belangrijke inspiratiebron voor zijn beeldend werk.

De broers Wim en Jan Rooding uit Gendt hebben samen het kunstwerk "Het Nest" ontworpen.
Dit kunstwerk staat voor Hof van Breunissen, het nieuwe woonzorgcomplex in Gendt. "We hebben allebei sterk de behoefte om scheppend bezig te zijn", vertellen Wim en Jan zaterdag in een interview in dagblad De Gelderlander. Het kunstwerk verbeeldt een nest met takken van brons. In Het Nest zijn kleine beeldjes verwerkt. Onder meer van een spreeuw met een kers in zijn snavel en een gans, de 'gente' die symbool staat voor Gendt. Maar ook van een baby en een oude man, die van de wieg tot het graf verbeelden. Een beeldje van Sint Jozef, het gelijknamige zorgcentrum in Hof van Breunissen, ontbreekt evenmin.

Wim en Jan Rooding groeiden op in Gendt, waar Jan nog woont en werkzaam is als tandarts. Het Nest kwam spontaan totstand, vertellen zij: "Het moest iets worden wat bewoners van Hof van Breunissen zou pakken, waar zij zich in zouden herkennen. Het Nest is ook iets van ons samen geworden."
