ISBN 9036916526 In een publicatie-reeks van Rykswaterstaat verscheen deze biografie van de waterbouwkundige Adrianus Fran‡ois Goudriaan (1768-1829), die een opmerkelyke carri kwam uit Hardinxveld en stamde uit een familie met een waterbouwkundige traditie. Zyn vader Barend Ariesz. Goudriaan (1728-1805) vervulde eveneens belangryke functies in de waterstaat, onder andere als dykmeester in Ameide en Wyk by Duurstede. Zowel aan zyn afkomst als aan zyn vader worden aparte hoofdstukken gewyd. Daarna wordt zyn loopbaan gevolgd, eerst by de marine en vanaf 1798 by de waterstaat. Hy was onder meer betrokken by de organisatie van de waterstaat in de jaren 1813-1816 en werd in 1823 benoemd tot administrateur. In diehoedanigheid bemoeide hy zich met de aanleg van de Zuid-Willemsvaart, plannen in verband met de afsluiting van het Y en met rivierverbeteringen. In de bylagen vindt men onder andere een genealogische schets van de familie Goudriaan.
