Volgens De naam is ... Commandeur, van Th. Commandeur (uitg. Pirola, Schoorl, 1999) moet hij zonder twijfel de natuurlijke vader van Pieter Commandeur Slijkerman zijn geweest (zie pp 228 en 229).

Hij huwde twee maal. Hij had twee kinderen uit het huwelijk met Lijntje Floor (1804-1828) en zes kinderen uit het huwelijk met Johanna (Jantje) Schilder (1808-1891).

In het bovengenoemde boek over de familie Commandeur is hij nr. VII.36 en zijn zijn drie kinderen die met hun nageslacht de familienaam voortzetten nrs. VIII.71, VIII.72 en VIII.73.
