    Ze was ongeveer 1.65 lang. Had donkerblond haar en blauwe ogen. Later had ze prachtig wit haar. Ze hield er van om er mooi en verzorgd uit te zien.
    Trui, zoals ze genoemd werd, was een echte zakenvrouw. Ze runde de schoenenzaak en schoenmakerij, deed alle inkoop en verkoop.
    Ze had een goed politiek inzicht want vlak voor de oorlog kocht ze grote partijen leer in. Johannes, haar man, maakte hier in de oorlog schoenen van die hij verruilde voor eten bij de boeren. Dat heeft het gezin de oorlog door geholpen.
    Omdat beide echtlieden werkten, waren er kindermeisjes en werd er regelmatig eten bezorgd, gekookt door de slager.

In het Utrechts Nieuwblad van 11 oktober 1934 op pagina 10 staat vermeld dat ze op 10 oktober getrouwd zijn onder het kopje Burgerlijke Stand op pagina 10.
Is de datum een vergissing of vond het kerkelijk huwelijk plaats op 10 oktober?

Dit lijkt toch te kloppen 10 oktober want zo is het ook bij de burgelijke stand vastgelegd, hoewel er later altijd gezegd is dat er op 13 september getrouwd is. Was dat dan het kerkelijk huwelijk??

Notitie 2 huwelijk - HUWELIJK
Ze kregen vijf kinderen waarvan er één op jonge leeftijd overleed (Willy).
Pas bij het huwelijk ontdekte Trui dat Johannes tien jaar ouder was dan zij. Hij had dit op zijn minst verhuld, maar mogelijk ook een paar jaartjes gelogen.
Toegegeven, hij zal er gemakkelijk mee weg gekomen zijn, op de trouwfoto is goed te zien dat hij er jong uitzag.

Ze waren lief als opa en oma. Opa bewaarde de sigarenbandjes, die konden dan door de kleinkinderen verzameld worden in een plakboek. Hij was altijd genoegelijk en gezellig. Toen ze de schoenenzaak nog hadden, kregen de kleinkinderen pantoffeltjes of mooie schoentjes uit de zaak. Oma kookte de lievelingsgerechten van de kleinkinderen en gaf regelmatig cadeautjes. Eigenlijk gaf ze bij ieder bezoek wel iets mee.
Het hoogtepunt was kerst. Dan was de boom mooi versierd en stond een prachtige kerststal voor en, voor ons kleinkinderen niet onbelangrijk, de boom hing vol met kerstkransjes, die natuurlijk vooral door de kleinkinderen opgegeten moesten worden.

Ze waren ook vergevingsgezind. Eén van de zwagers had ze plat gezegd nogal belazerd. Dit werd door mijn oma ontdekt en ze zorgde er voor dat alles weer rechtgetrokken werd. Toch hebben ze het contact met deze zwager en zijn echtgenote aangehouden.
