      Johannes Jannes Troost (1843-1916). Hij was sinds 8 mei 1869 getrouwd met Hendrika Sybrechta Brunas van Albada. Zijn vader leidde hem op als turfmakelaar, in de hoop en verwachting dat hij dit werk ooit over zou kunnen nemen. Bij de ziekte van zijn vader werd Johannes aangezocht door de Compagnie om het werk waar te nemen. Daarbij werd niet gesproken over ‘recognitie’, de 200 gulden per jaar als pacht van het ambt. Dat wilde men hem later toch laten betalen. Hij schreef daarover op 10 januari 1874 een brief aan de directeuren van de Compagnie, met de vraag of het bestuur dit toch nog in ernstige overweging zou willen nemen, of dat wel billijk was. Tussentijds was hij al gepasseerd als turfmakelaar. Hij mocht het seizoen afmaken, het nieuwe beginnen, maar in april 1873 werd een andere turfmakelaar aangesteld.
