A comparatively later arrival to California, USA was Samuel Caro, a native of Peisern, Poland, who emigrated through Boston sometime around 1860, where he met and married Sarah Macowsky, who was born in Nakel, Wlkp., Poland;Naklo, Germany. By 1875 the family had left Boston and settled in San Francisco, and four of Sarah Mackowsky's siblings were in San Francisco five years later. In 1902, Samuel and Sarah Caro's son, David ventured to Loyalton, not far from Downieville, in Sierra County, where he established a business. His parents and siblings were all living in San Francisco, including his sister Rose who had married Charles Goldberg.
Among Adolph and Sara Cohn's four children was a daughter, Jennie. In 1906, not quite a year before Adolph Cohn passed away in San Francisco, Jennie married David Caro. The couple and David's sister Rose and her husband, all settled in Loyalton, where they operated what a descendant reported the family always called a deli, until about 1910. The two families then moved farther north, to Redding, in Shasta County, where they remained until about 1920.
