John Pope, Sr. was born about 1789 in Lincoln or Adair County, KY toWilliam Henry and Jemimah Vardaman Pope and departed this life about 1857 in Brumley or Passover, MO. He was united in marriage in 1810 in Kentucky to Partishia Martha Meredith. They had three children, William Meredith and wife, Julia, Elizabeth Huddleston and husband, George, and Jane Pope and six grandchildren.
