    M. Benno Scherek, who for a great many years was well known In musicalcircles, died suddenly in tragic circumstances at a late hour on Thursday night while conducting the orchestra at the New Comedy Theatre, where Mrr Dion Bouclcault and Miss Irene Van brugh are producing "The High Road." Mrr Scherek collapsed a few minutes before the finale. He was removed from the theatre and a doctor summoned, but Mrr Scherek was dead. He was 70 years of age, and lived at St. Kilda, Australia
