Notes about Adolf Levy

Apprentice-merchant and then actor. Later became merchant and lastlylawyer in Seattle. He changed his name to Adolf Lowe on becoming an actor.
Education: LLB University of Washington, USA.May 31, 1909. Arrived at Ellis Island in New York harbor 7 October 1903, on the steamship Phoenicia from Hamburg, Hamburg, Germany. Also lived in Brunn, Moravia (later part of Czechoslovakia and now known as Brno), Magdeberg, Stendal and finally in Berlin, Berlin, Brandenburg, Germany before coming to this country. He was a member of Germania Lodge No. 102, Seattle Bar Association, I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Hollister, CA. Independent Order of Odd Fellows., Sons of Herman and the Arian Singing Society. The family home in Seattle was at 156 West 65th Street.
Adolf brought his family directly to Seattle after arriving on these shores. Some cousins and friends had already become established in Seattle, having preceded Adolf and his family to the USA Adolf's Petition for Naturalization was witnessed by R. Damus. Adolf's wife Luise had three sisters; Olga, Toni and Elma. Olga married Julius Damus, whose brother Rudolf Damus (R. Damus) was already in Seattle and met the criteria of having known the petitioner (Adolf) for more than 5 years.
