The Lansing State Journal Lansing, Ingham County, Michigan July 22, 2001 Obituary: Leta L. (Sheren) King KING, LETA L. (SHEREN) Lansing Loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, age 88, died July 20, 2001. Born December 4, 1912 in Grand Ledge, the daughter of Hiram and Cora Sheren. Mrs. King retired from Fisher Body in 1970. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley E., 2 sisters, Verda and Gladys, 4 brothers, Glenn, Clinton, Dale and Reo Sheren. Surviving are her daughter, Joyce Collins of Lansing; son, Bruce (Jeanne) King of Weidman; sister-in-law, Edith Sheren of Jenison; 11 grandchildren, Lori (David) Clyde, Mark, Greg, Dean and Matt King, Steve (Teresa), Mike (Jane), Dave (Deanna) and Kevin (Nancy) Collins, Mike (Sue) and Pat (Susan) Hill; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson. The family would like to thank her nurses, MaryJo Caldiran, and Annette Sanders; aides, Terry Torres, Bestina Peters, Tshara McPherson, Kim Henley, Cynthia Austin, and Angie Banura; lifelong friends, Odella Field of AZ, Deb Kurilchyk and Walter and Virginia Kurilchyk, all of CA; and recent but important friends, Vonnie Joseph, John Line, and Echo Swain, all of Lansing. Funeral Services will be held Monday, July 23, at 2 p.m. at the Gorsline-Runciman Co. Lansing Chapel, 900 E. Michigan Avenue, Lansing, with the Rev. Dr. Susan Weiter, Pastor of Pilgrim Congregational Church UCC, officiating. Interment will follow in Deepdale Memorial Gardens, Lansing. Her grandsons will serve as Casket Bearers. The family will receive friends at the chapel Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Those desiring may make contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Attn: Memorial Honor Program FH, One St. Jude Place Bldg., P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 300, Memphis, TN 38148-0552 or the Greater Lansing Food Bank, P.O. Box 16224, Lansing, MI 48933 in memory of Mrs. King.
